I first heard of S.D.A.M.N. in 2024 as a nursing student at Southwestern College (SWC). Since joining S.D.A.M.N., I have been constantly surprised with the commitment this organization has to the community and its volunteers. During a beach cleanup event in Mission Bay, I had the opportunity to help the community by picking up trash that was destroying our beautiful waterfront of San Diego. During the entire time, Adam (President) and Tom (Event Co-Chair, Board Member) took such good care of the volunteers by providing food and hydration. What impressed me the most was how welcoming Adam was to my two kids who joined in on the cleanup with enthusiasm and gratitude. Adam made sure that my family ate alongside the rest of the volunteers and went above and beyond to make us feel embraced. Thank you, Adam, and San Diego Association for Men in Nursing for helping me use this beach cleanup as a valuable life lesson for my children that EVERYONE is responsible for and able to help make their community a better place.

Warmly,

Sophia
