At the UCSD Evidence-Based Practice Conference, I had the opportunity to represent the San Diego Association for Men in Nursing, an organization dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusivity within healthcare. I engaged with healthcare professionals from various disciplines, sharing our mission of building a nursing workforce that truly reflects the diverse populations we serve. With men underrepresented in nursing, we educated attendees not only on our efforts to broaden perspectives on gender in the field and raise awareness around men’s health needs, but also on the inclusive nature of our organization. The association welcomes both men and women who are passionate about advancing men’s health, integrating men into the workforce, and fostering open communication across genders. As a nursing student nearing graduation, the conference provided invaluable insights, meaningful professional connections, and opportunities for mentorship and collaboration. The experience deepened my understanding of the profession and reinforced my commitment to fostering inclusivity in healthcare.
