YMCA Community Health/Wellness Fair – 11.6.24

I thoroughly enjoyed volunteering at the YMCA health fair with S.D.A.M.N. As a soon-to-be registered nurse, I found educating and advocating for patients in a community setting, where they feel safe and heard, both empowering and impactful. This experience allowed me to enhance my interpersonal and patient-teaching skills, which are essential for my goal of becoming an ED nurse. The most important lesson I learned from this volunteer experience is to view my patients as people first, and their symptoms and diagnoses second.
